A Word from HCA's Head of School

Deciding where your child will go to school is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. Parents know intuitively that schools have a big impact on their children, not only academically, but socially, emotionally and spiritually. In fact, your child will spend one quarter of their waking hours in school during their educational years.

At Heritage Christian Academy, our mission is to partner with you to reinforce and build on the same biblically based values you strive to instill in your child at home. We understand that, now more than ever, it is a battle to counter the non-Christian messages that the world is sending. The only way we can do that as parents and educators is to daily plant the Word of God in them. In I Corinthians 3:6 Paul states, “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow.” It would be our privilege to partner with you in cultivating the soil, planting the seed, and watering as your child grows up in the “training and instruction of the Lord.” No school can guarantee that your child will not have disappointments, failures, peer struggles, and normal childhood and adolescent challenges. However, what we can guarantee is that as your child goes through the normal challenges of growing up:

  • They will be guided, encouraged and challenged with biblical principles in an atmosphere of the same grace and encouragement we have in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
  • They will be surrounded by teachers and administrators who are committed to pray for them every day.
  • The Word of God that is being planted in them will not return empty.

The Bible is clear regarding parents' responsibility to be the primary educator of their children.  As a Christian school, we consider it a privilege and an awesome responsibility to partner with you in the process.   We know that students, parents, teachers and other staff members all working together can help ensure present and future student success.

The goal of HCA is to provide an environment that leads to academic success, while providing the opportunity for our students to become Christ-centered and, therefore, well prepared to serve the Body of Christ and their fellow man as servant leaders in our world. I invite you to watch my brief video message as an introduction to our philosophy and insight to what makes HCA the premier private Christian school east of Dallas.

We are excited about the school year and look forward to "doing life together" with you as part of our family.

In Christ,
Dr. Brad Helmer
