Why Choose HCA
Heritage Christian Academy has many distinctive advantages that make our school a great choice for educating your child.
One of the most important reasons for choosing HCA is that we educate young people from a Biblical worldview. A Biblical worldview gives students a firm foundation for making important decisions in life, including the most basic decision of whether they will live for personal gain or as a disciple of Christ with a devoted servant’s heart. It prepares them to see through and stand against cultural beliefs that are non-biblical. Finally, a Biblical worldview helps young people to know, understand, and express the fact that all truth is God’s truth and that all things are held together by God for His glory.
SMALL CLASS SIZES:
At Heritage, our average class size ranges from 12 to 16 students. While it is easy to see that a small class size gives teachers the ability to provide more individualized attention, research has also shown that students feel more confident and engaged when their class size is smaller. Students are willing to speak up more frequently and ask questions, while teachers can provide extra assistance or enrichment when needed.
PASSIONATE and HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS:
At HCA, teaching is not just a profession, it is a calling. Our certified teachers and professional staff members live out their faith in the manner in which they deal with children. Our teachers and staff work long, hard hours for much less pay than their public school counterparts to help their students prepare to succeed in college and in life. They pray continually for their students to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and to think critically about the world in which they live.
RIGOROUS AND COMPREHENSIVE CURRICULUM:
HCA's quality college-preparatory instruction emphasizes critical thinking skills and encourages student collaboration and input. Our instruction includes a commitment to a Bible-based philosophy of education which integrates Christian principles and scriptural truths with academic and social expectations for every student.
God has given the responsibility of training children primarily to parents, and HCA takes great pride in supporting the parents in this role. In partnership with families, HCA shares in the commitment to the success of each child in each classroom. We consider it a privilege and great responsibility to educate students in a Christ centered, college preparatory environment that supports the training they receive at home.
HCA has a long tradition in providing a wide variety of opportunities for students to become involved in an array of extracurricular activities. HCA offers thirteen different boys and girls competitive team sports, with recent championship and runner-up places in football, volleyball, swimming, and cheer. HCA continues to be competative in baseball, softball, golf and track, just to name a few more. HCA is also recognized for its award-winning fine arts programs in art, dance, and theater, with 2018 top finishes in Art and Dance, as well as top three finish in One-Act Drama.
HCA is rich in technology with a fully implemented 1-to-1 laptop program for secondary students (Grades 7th-12th), as well as a Chromebook initiative for 5th and 6th Grade classrooms. HCA has two computer labs, one designated for the secondary school, and one for the elementary school, which is staffed by a certified technology teacher, who works with the elementary teachers to ensure the technology is integrated into the classroom curriculum.
