Christ Centered
At HCA a Christ Centered education exists because our staff members model a Christian example and integrate a biblical Christian worldview into all we do both in the classroom and outside the classroom. Integration is the blending of biblical principles with traditional subject matter areas. It is the tools with which biblically based people create a truly Christian, truly biblical, Christian school.
Our hope is that the whole child — heart, soul, mind, and strength — leaves HCA with their lives directed toward the love of God and the love of others, equipped with the skills and knowledge to accomplish Christ's calling on their lives.
Heart
More than anything else, we want our students' hearts to be transformed by the gospel. Teachers regularly teach and share the good news of Christ's death and resurrection and that salvation is by grace through faith. Our desire is that all students would have numerous opportunities to hear and respond to the gospel while at HCA.
To cultivate a heart that is devoted to God, we center our education on the worship of Christ. The heartbeat of this is our weekly chapel services. These weekly chapel services for both elementary and secondary provide consistent space for worship, prayer, and guidance from God's Word. Students regularly hear from local pastors and Christian leaders as well as HCA faculty on how to grow more like Christ.
Soul
We want every student to be known and loved here at HCA. Caring for the student's should is just as important for us as cultivating the student's mind. We see our teachers as more than just educators, but mentors and disciple-makers. Because of our small class sizes, teachers get to know students and families on a deeper level, enabling them to care for watch child's unique spiritual questions and needs.
In secondary school, each student participates in Spiritual Life Groups, small groups of gender and age-specific students led by a faculty member. These weekly meetings facilitate spiritual conversations with the hopes of encouraging all of our students in their progress toward becoming more like Christ. These small groups are a place where students can ask tough questions, support each other in prayer, and reflect on the joys and challenges of following Christ.
Mind
Cultivating the student's mind is an essential component to developing a biblical worldview. Our attitude is that of the Apostle Paul, “Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). All of our teachers integrate the Christian faith into every subject that they teach, so that students grasp how all truth is God's truth. Our students are trained to discern how their specific passions and callings can intersect with how to glorify God and seek their neighbor's flourishing, whether through education, business, art, medicine, etc.
Strength
Because we equip Christ-centered leaders who will impact the world, we believe in giving real life opportunities to serve God in the here and now. From elementary to secondary, students have a multitude of opportunities to serve and love others outside the walls of the classroom.
Elementary students participate in yearly service and giving projects through “Dollar Chapel” and classroom service projects. Our secondary school takes one day each semester, called Mission day, to go out into the community and serve others. We also encourage high school students to serve on mission trips through the school and through their church. Past school mission trips have been throughout Texas, Louisiana, Mexico and Costa Rica.
